DIY Monster High Invitations

So every year I do handmade invites out of card stock . This past years theme was Monster High.

What you will need:

Black card stock

White card stock

Glitter pen

1 rubber stamp

2 hours total

Step 1:

Find a Google image you think will be nice, print it on white card stock in the size you want the invites.

Step 2 :

Cut your printed image out .

Step 3:

Use that cut out to trace the outline of the black skull background.

Step 4: (Above)

Trim the black of our cut out, and now on white card stock, trace your skull

Step 5:

After both the black n white skull are cut , we will glue the white part onto the black.

Step 6:

Grab your glitter pen and trace inside the bow, to add some sparkle.

After your glitter is drawn in, use your stamp, I chose the one seen below, and then wrote in the information. Came out amazing, just a little hand work.

DIY Ornament, Keychain, Knick Knack

So, how to Do It Yourself, economical and inexpensive knick knack, ornament, charm, or gift.

So, over the kids spring break , we decided to make gifts for people. The little girls wanted to make a charm bracelet and necklace for their mom, for her birthday. So we went on pinterest and saw a picture of a silver painted pendant with a child’s finger print, you saw it too right??

Well the directions were pretty vague, so I messed this up twice. It was either too much water, or too little of water. And then I figured it out. So, the very first picture above with the recipe, is not mine. I found it on pinterest. It just made it easier to post this. So I do not take credit for that photo.

So with that said, Here is how we began this journey:

What you will need:

Mixing bowl

First: Add all the ingredients in the bowl and stir until dough consistency.

Second: Sprinkle flour on the counter so you can mold your dough.

Third: Mold you charm and put a head pin in if you want a charm, or a keychain finding in for a keychain, or a headpin to make an ornament. Your choice.

Fourth : Put molded and sculpted item onto a baking sheet non-greased.

Fifth : Place baking sheet carefully in oven, on 250 degrees F, for 2 hours or until hardened.

Sixth : Let the items cool to touch.

Seventh: Paint 🙂

Above I just crafted a MMA Glove by hand by staring at a picture of a glove. It wasn’t too hard. After I baked it I then carefully painted it to be a keychain, in the pictures you see my finished product without the gloss.

This really made for a fun project, easy, inexpensive and time consuming. I recommend doing this with your kids or kids you watch. It makes for a fun, no tv activity.

Crayola Crayon Wreath DIY

Crayola Crayon Wreath DIY

This one was made for my daughter’s Teacher for Christmas , Dec. 2012
The items I used, for the size I made, are below. It will depend on your own choice of size. I say buy extra crayons and return the ones not used, or buy I big pack and save the rest for future activities, or to melt down 🙂
Items used on the wreath featured:
Spare card board
Exacto Knife
Curling ribbon
Hot Glue or Tacky Glue
Fruit bowl (optional)
Morton salt bottle (optional)

Okay, so first you get a spare piece of cardboard , or foam tag board. I used a fruit bowl , and put it top down and lightly traced it to make the size of the wreath.
Second I grabbed my salt package, it doesn’t matter if empty or full. I put it in the center of my first tracing, and lightly traced the salt container.
Third, I grabbed my exacto knife and cut the second circle out, thus creating the wreath.
Now, grab your crayons, and space them how you want on the wreath. I put the salt container in the middle to help with my evenness and spacing. You can choose your color order, (I’m OCD so it was color cordinated , haha) how close or far to space them.
After you have all your crayons laid out, start gluing them down. Once they are glued, let dry for 1-2 mins.
Before you attach your bow, add your curling ribbon in desired place and lightly curl.
Attach your bow, I chose the bottom.
After that, Attach ribbon at the top to hang it later on.
And BAM BABY, You are done. 🙂
I used 3, 24 count boxes of Crayola Crayons. But I didn’t use all of them, and I set my extras to the side for another use.
My daughter’s teacher loved it! And you can even make on for your Daycare providers, Your house, a play room. Makes a fun project to do with your kids for any holiday or teacher birthday!
Enjoy please post pics if you makes one!

** This idea was not though of by myself, I was inspired by a photo I ran upon on pinterest. All I did was recreate my own version 🙂 **
